Cal Jet by Elite (San Diego McClellan Palomar) has announced it has suspended operations as of April 18. In a joint statement, President George Wozniak and CEO Bob Daly said the downtime would allow the virtual carrier to retool ahead of a largescale roll-out of flights in June.
Since launching in September of 2017, Cal Jet has focussed on a single route - San Diego McClellan Palomar-Las Vegas Harry Reid - using a single CRJ700 chartered from parent Elite Airways (MNU, Portland International Jetport).
"Our business plan has been based on a five-city strategy out of Palomar Airport and the additional aircraft and crews needed to accomplish this goal are nearly complete and is operationally where we need to be to operate at our desired performance levels," the management duo said.
As it stands, Cal Jet expects to resume service at the end of June with flights from Carlsbad to Las Vegas as well as Oakland International and Phoenix. In late July, it expects to add San José Cabo and Sacramento International.
