SONAS Aviation (Shannon) is "weeks away" from acquiring an Irish Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) and plans to add a Bombardier Aerospace Challenger 605 as its first aircraft, Corporate Jet Investor has reported.
The airline, founded by former CEO TAG Aviation (Geneva) Graham Williamson, is primarily positioning itself as an aircraft management company and wants to attract customers who currently have their business jets registered in the United Kingdom.
"We are reaching out to owners of corporate jets seeking predictability, stability and continuity in these uncertain times. The impact of Brexit - deal, no deal, interminable status quo, political uncertainty and its subsequent effects on the aviation community in the United Kingdom is a real and immediate issue," Williamson said.
He added that by re-registering their aircraft in Ireland under SONAS Aviation's management, the owners will continue to benefit from all aspects of EU membership, including all bilateral agreements, regardless of the post-Brexit rules in force in the UK.
Williamson added that SONAS had no ambition to grow into a "large" company but will rather focus on building close relationships with selected customers.
