The Ministry of Tourism has announced that the Maldives will reopen its borders to tourists from all countries on July 15, 2020, with no COVID tests, quarantine, or visa requirements.
While tourists will be provided with a 30-day free visa on arrival, they will have to have a confirmed booking of accommodation in a registered tourist establishment prior to arrival in Maldives. The only health-related restriction is a mandatory declaration upon arrival. In the first phase of the reopening, tourists will have to spend their entire stay in the country in one accommodation (unless they need to overnight in another place during transit within the country).
Until the end of July, tourists will only be allowed to stay in resorts on uninhabited islands and on liveaboard yachts. Facilities on inhabited islands will reopen starting on August 1.
Emirates (EK, Dubai International) and SriLankan Airlines (UL, Colombo International) have confirmed their plans to relaunch flights to Malé from Dubai International and Colombo International respectively, as soon as Maldivian borders reopen.
