Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) has announced it has gradually resumed manufacturing activities at its Canadian plants as of April 28, although a full ramp-up is expected to take "a few weeks".
The firm said the decision covers all of its business segments (Aviation, Transportation, and Administration) but that the exact schedule will vary depending on the site. All workers who can work from home will be asked to do so, while those who will be physically present on site will have to follow new health and safety procedures to minimise the danger of COVID-19 infection.
Bombardier said that it will communicate details directly to employees affected.
The Canadian manufacturer continues to own Bombardier Business Aircraft (Montréal Trudeau) and the CRJ programme as the sale to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has not been completed yet. Its other commercial aircraft programmes, the Dash 8-400 and the CSeries, have been sold to De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC, Toronto Downsview) and Airbus Canada (ABK, Montréal Mirabel) respectively.
