KlasJet (KLJ, Vilnius) has retired and sold its only Challenger 850 to Air Libya (7I, Tripoli Mitiga), transitioning to an all-narrowbody fleet, ch-aviation research has revealed.
LY-VTA (msn 7617) was wet-leased to Air Libya between January and March 2024, operating domestic and regional charters out of the carrier's Benghazi base. It was retired on March 17 and remained parked at the Libyan airport for the next three months. During this time it was sold to Air Libya, and on June 25 it was ferried to Istanbul Atatürk for pre-induction maintenance, already with its new registration, 5A-LHR.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows that Air Libya operates four ARJ-100s and one BAe 146-200 and wet-leases one CRJ100 from Alfa Airlines SD (AAJ, Khartoum).
KlasJet told ch-aviation earlier this year that it was planning to retire the regional jet and focus both of its business activities, executive charters and passenger ACMI, on the narrowbody segment. The Avia Solutions Group carrier currently operates two B737-300s, three B737-500s, and seven B737-800s.
