The United States Department of Transportation (DOT) has revoked the certificate of public convenience that allowed Western Air Charter, Inc., trading as Jet Edge and part of the Vista America group, to engage in interstate charter operations carrying passengers and freight using large aircraft, following the carrier's request to relinquish it.

According to the DOT order, Jet Edge voluntarily surrendered its interstate charter authority on July 31, 2024. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) later confirmed that the carrier had ceased operating large aircraft on August 14, 2024. Large aircraft are defined as those originally designed to have a maximum passenger capacity of more than 60 seats or a payload exceeding 18,000 pounds (8,165 kilograms).

Jet Edge obtained its interstate and foreign charter services certificates in 2020, with the intention of operating two B737-700(BBJ)s. The pair operated until 2023, with the last remaining unit active under the 'EDG' code until August 16.

Although its interstate certificate has been revoked, the company retains the right to reapply for it in the future. This order solely addresses the interstate charter certificate, while the revocation of its foreign charter certificate remains pending and will be addressed separately.

The operator did not respond to ch-aviation's request for comment.

Jet Edge's Part 135 certificate encompasses a fleet of 13 aircraft, including six G280s, a G400, a G550, a GIV-SP, a GV, a G650ER, a Global 7500, and a Legacy 650. Recently, the company retired the last of its two G300s and the last of its sixteen G450s, with both joining the Part 135 fleet of JetSelect Aviation, another Vista America carrier.

Other Vista America operators - JetSelect Aviation, Red Wing Aviation, and XOJET Aviation - do not and have not operated aircraft classified as large by the FAA.
