Taranto will see scheduled passenger operations resume next summer with Express Airways (Germany)'s launch of weekly return flights to Düsseldorf and Nuremberg.
The carrier says flights from either city will operate between May 2 and October 24, 2016.
Alenia Aermacchi (Brindisi) uses the airfield as a transit point for the B787 parts it manufactures for Boeing (BOE, Washington National) in the United States. At present, the Italian aerospace firm produces B787 fuselage Sections 44 and 46 at its Taranto Grottaglie plant while horizontal stabilizers are produced in Foggia.
