JetGo Australia (Brisbane International) has announced that it will switch its Melbourne operations from Melbourne Avalon to the more conveniently located Melbourne Essendon with effect from July 3.

The regional carrier said in a statement that while it had originally planned to serve either Melbourne Airport or Essendon, a lack of space at the former and a lack of security equipment at the latter had meant it would have to use Avalon as an interim measure.

"Unfortunately the approval process for the security screening services [at Essendon] took much longer than we all expected, but finally the wait is over and we would like to thank the patience of our customers who have supported the services for 8 months," it said.

JetGo offers 3x weekly return services to Dubbo from Melbourne using E135 equipment.
