Eagle Airways (Hamilton, NZ) has concluded operations following its last commercial flight - Wellington to Hamilton, NZ via Palmerston North - on Friday, August 26.
Parent firm Air New Zealand (NZ, Auckland International) made the decision to discontinue the carrier's operations back in November 2014 after a review of Eagle Airways' books showed its fleet of Beech 1900Ds incurring heavy losses on its domestic commuter flights.
Since then, Air New Zealand has set about introducing larger, more cost-effective Dash 8-300s and ATR72s into its local operations.
Eagle Airways staff have been transferred to other units in the Air New Zealand stable of carriers which also include Air Nelson (Nelson, NZ) and Mount Cook Airline (Christchurch).
