Crystal AirCruises (CYT, Los Angeles International) has announced it has formally cancelled its Air-Cruise Program ahead of the arrival of its maiden VIP-configured B777-200(LR) - P4-XTL (msn 40955) - on August 1.

The aircraft was to have begun around-the-world luxury charter flights with its maiden service - the Peninsula Grand Inaugural Crystal AirCruise - to have covered New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Manila, Bangkok, and Paris. The package tour, which was available to eighty passengers at USD159,000 per head, was to have been followed by other tours departing on October 21 and December 22, 2017. Flights in 2018 were also scheduled for March 31, June 1, September 8, and October 13.

According to a press release, P4-XTL will instead be deployed into service on September 29 running a ten-day charter programme in China that will be managed by parent firm, Genting Hong Kong. It will then be made available for charters and other special interest AirCruises.

“As Crystal expands its portfolio of global travel experiences, the shift of Crystal Skye to special interest charters provides a distinct luxury option that is in great demand and is unmatched by any hotel, resort or cruise line in the world,” the press release said.
